Wall Street English is entering this fast-growing market at a perfect time. Recent government changes and the lifting of global sanctions have resulted in a surge of economic growth and activity. English language is a key skill in this expanding new economy, but there are few language centers operating at international standards and the market is highly fragmented.

“Wall Street English is bringing global experience and an internationally recognized, trusted brand to a market that is at a key formative stage in its development. There is high demand for quality English education in Myanmar, and we are thrilled to be able to deliver our effective English courses and learning experience to them”, said David Kedwards, CEO of Wall Street English.

The first center will be located in Yangon, a fast-growing city with over 6 million residents. The centers is 800 square meters and is located in a stand-alone building opposite the popular Junction Square Mall in the city center.

“The location is perfect given the popularity of the neighborhood and the level of foot traffic that the mall attracts”, said Lex Baker, Franchise Management and Development Director for Wall Street English. “It is a great hub location, and given its accessibility from across the city it will make it easy for people to fit studying English into their busy schedules”.

The agreement was made with Myanmar Strategic Holdings (“MSH”), a leading investor and operator focused on Myanmar’s fast growing consumer market, with operations across hospitality, education and food and beverage. Under the agreement, Myanmar Strategic Holdings plans to open five WSE centers in Myanmar over the next five years.

“As Myanmar becomes a growing player in the global economy, the population deserves access to first-rate English language education. Wall Street English, with its proven method and curriculum developed by global education company Pearson, is the perfect partner for us to deliver unrivaled education quality”, said Enrico Cesenni, CEO of Myanmar Strategic Holdings. “MSH will provide extensive local insight and leverage its Myanmar-based team to establish solid foundations and become a leading education player in Myanmar”.

Myanmar will be the eighth country in Asia with Wall Street English learning centers and the 28th country in the Wall Street English global network.
